Brandon Turner, age 26, of Stamford, was arrested Tuesday, Feb. 16, and charged with attempted murder in connection with the Tuesday, Nov. 3 in Stamford, said Stamford Police Capt. Richard Conklin.
The shooting happened when Turner ran into another man and the two began arguing at the corner of Stillwater Avenue and Virgil Street when Turner out pulled a 9-mm handgun and fired at least four shots, Conklin said.
Police stopped Tuner about 45 minutes after the shooting on Nurney Street, but he had changed clothes and didn't have a weapon, so police had to let him go until they were able to secure a warrant, Conklin said.
The shooting happened in an area where deliveries were being made and there were numerous people walking on the street, he added.
"Thankfully, no one else was injured," Conklin said.
Detectives were able to identify Turner from surrounding video surveillance cameras near the scene.
"Narc officers identified him right away from previous arrests," Conklin said.
Turner was charged with:
- Criminal attempt at murder
- Reckless endangerment
- Criminal possession of a firearm
- Unlawful discharge of a firearm
He was held on a court-set bond of $750,000.
Conklin said the good work of investigator Nick Spinella and the rest of the Major Crimes Unit run by Sgt. Jennifer Lynch led to Turner's arrest.
